Caroline Sadie RayCaroline Sadie RayMy first piece of work was for the baby shower. The new mom-to-be, Julie, was more interested in getting advice than she was gifts. I designed a low-cost, one color invitation that encouraged guests to come bearing advice, even if they also wanted to bring a gift. Following the same theme, I then designed a simple thank-you note card for Julie to send out afterwards. Once Caroline arrived on the scene, a birth announcement was in order. I chose to go with the classic black and white look, using her hospital foot print and a photograph that Caroline’s dad, Charly, took when she was just a few days old. Before mom and dad knew it, Caroline was having her first birthday, and then her second. Both occasions called for a fun party invitation. I designed simple, oversized post cards that could be mailed without an envelope. Color digital copies allow the use of full color while keeping the cost down and the quality up. This trend has continued through her fourth birthday. So far Caroline has been a pretty easy to please client. If our good relationship continues I suspect before too long I’ll be designing her high school graduation announcement, and then perhaps her wedding invitation. And so it goes. |
